WARNING! This is a Carbon Fiber Welding Hood. Carbon is a conductor of electricity. When using DO NOT allow the Welding Hood to make simultaneous contact with the stinger and material your ground lead is place on. Doing so could result in electrical shock, burns or eye injury. Serious injury including eye injury and vision loss and possibly death may occur from misuse of this product or failure to read and heed safety warning on this label. Federal and State OSHA requirements should be followed for use of this product. During the welding process, heat and radiation are released, which can cause damage to the eyes and skin. This welding hood helps protect against certain eye and face welding hazards. When wearing, your eyes are always protected against ultraviolet and infrared radiation, regardless of the shade level. To protect the rest of your body, appropriate protective clothing must also be worn. Particles and substances released during the welding process can cause allegoric skin reactions in people who are susceptible. Skin contact with the fabric component can lead to allergic reactions in people who are susceptible. The protective welding hood must only be used for welding and grinding and not for other applications. CMR Fabrications LLC assumes no liability when the welding hood is used for other purposes other than intended or with disregard for the operating instructions. The hood is suitable for all established welding procedures, excluding gas and laser welding.

After using this mask for over a month on a daily basis, I can say that it was money well spent. It is light and well made. The multi shade auto darkening lense is very clear and is holding up well. I use this mask for both mig and tig welding applications of stainless in a production environment. I will be ordering a second one just to separate between mig and tig operations so that I dont go through so many plastic covers since I tig weld for the most part. Ill be looking forward to any new products from this company.

I don’t have enough good things to say about this hood. It is truly the highest quality hood I own in every aspect; it’s worth every penny!
The high quality carbon fiber is unmatched by any carbon fiber hood competitors (I’ve had outlaw leather and pipeliners cloud carbon and it does not compare at all)
With all that being said the lens is one of my favorite parts of it. It’s extremely clear and almost transparent in light or dark situations, I love the cool true color auto dark. It shows very define puddle/edges when welding or cutting. The view is amazing in the wide lens box too.
Man I really can’t say enough good things about this hood.

I have used this hood once. it was an outdoor weld, in bright AZ sun. I am unable to find a setting which does not make my view so dark that I cannot see the weld joint, only the actual arc flash. This is a real problem for me. I hope this problem is isolated to bright sun operation only, although this is still undesirable.
Hello Steven. It sounds to us the issues you are having with this are more of a user experience than the product itself. First and foremost any form of outdoor welding during the day will have much more back lighting making the visibility worse. Especially with a large view lens, there is so much more surface area for light to reflect off of. To fix this with the traditional scoop or full face hood you can simply use a head cover and attach it to the top of the hood so it drapes over and covers the back of your head helping to block out light. These lenses offer some of the clearest and truest views available and shade 9 is the lowest recommend shade out there unless your are getting into some specialty welding and then some use a shade 8 which is considered a cutting shade. Typically when you strike an Arc most of your work piece goes away and there is only a small amount of your joint in front of and behind your arc that is visible, maybe this is not what your had expected but that is completely normal. You will not find a lens that is only able to darken around just the arc but leaves everything else bright. If you are doing a lot of outdoor welding you maybe want to consider a 2x4 lens or even a pancake hood as these will deal with the lighting better. But either one of those hoods still utilize the same lens technology. We have other tips that can help you as well but we need to know more about what you are trying to accomplish. I love the shell of the hood. They advertise cover lenses are widely available.... that is partially true. Outter lens can be found anywhere. The inner lens can only be found through them unless you cut your own. Any other lens will fit that has widely available inner covers including miller elite 4x you will need to do some fileing to the keeper. That being said the lens is not bad but I have a preference apparently that I wasn't aware of. If I was able to walk into any weld supply and get these lens covers I would give this lens a longer trial. But having to order when needed with a week lead time I cant do it...... ish happens. I ABSOLUTELT LOVE THIS SHELL. Just wish could protect included lens easily anywhere weld supplies can be had. Have a few ideas that could help this hood prosper. Love the product, finish on the carbon fiber outside isnt perfect and needs polished, quite a few rough spots. For the price i feel like that should be better but overall great hood

The lens is clear and if put next to my optrel sphere or miller elite 4x that I have used it just as clear whit nice true colors lens has clear white arch and orange puddle side by side wouldn’t be able tell difference in either of two I mentioned it has great viewing area especially for the wight of the hood is built strong and whit the fit up so back light glare is minimal and easy to a avoid even whit class 2 hard hat I work on water so definitely don’t baby it but not going eat sparks for no reason but picked up the eco in large viewing area just in case same great lens and you will quit long before that one dose your not going find a better built hood for price
